A brown-seeded linseed flax line that, when compared to the check, Flanders, matures significantly earlier and yields similarly in the Black and Grey Soil Zone (Short Growing Season) and in the Black and Grey Soil Zone (Longer Growing Season) and under conditions of late seeding. In addition, FP 2188 has a similar lodging resistance as Flanders. FP 2188 has significantly larger seeds (+0.1 g), significantly higher oil content (+4.4 percent), significantly higher oil quality (+1.3), and significantly higher protein content in the meal (+3.1 percent) than Flanders in western Canada. FP 2188 is immune to rust, race 371 and has significantly better wilt resistance than the mean of Flanders and NorLin. Developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Morden, Man. Condiment brown mustard line well adapted to the brown mustard growing areas of western Canada with similar maturity, seed yield, distinct green seed count and chlorophyll content as the check, Commercial Brown. J01-1352 has significantly reduced fixed oil, significantly increased protein content and significantly increased volatile oil (allyl isothiocyanate) content than Commercial Brown.
