Meristem launches Canada Sprayer Guide Web siteDate posted: May 26, 2005A new guide to help Canadian crop producers get the latest information in crop protection technology has been launched. Called the "Canada Sprayer Guide" it's anchored at www.canadasprayerguide.com. It is produced by the independent communications company, Meristem Information Resources Ltd. of Calgary, Alta. "Canada Sprayer Guide is focused on technology for a sustainable agricultural industry," says Lee Hart, a Senior Editor with Meristem and lead editor on the Guide. "It provides an overview of the most recent developments in sprayer technology, showcases the latest research and provides important perspective from researchers, industry, government and farmers. "The main focus is keeping producers informed," says Hart. "Everything we do is to provide clear information on application technology for crop protection products, for farmers and those who serve farmers." The public demands that crop protection products are applied in an environmentally sustainable way, he says, so it's important producers keep up to date on technology. However, to survive in today's tough business climate, producers also need to ensure they are getting the most value from their products and application systems. Canada Sprayer Guide is supported by industry contributors who have a need to provide producers with high-quality information. It is designed to help producers, and anyone else who has an interest in effective application technology, access additional information. The speed of technology development is dramatic, says Hart, and the Guide also provides industry and the research community a valuable way to get their message out, and to get direct feedback from producers and others. "As a research organization heavily involved in sprayer technology, we want to ensure our information and technology reaches industry and producers," says Rick Atkins, who oversees the AgTech Centre of Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in Lethbridge, Alta., one of the first supporters of the Guide. "We have many reports and other information available on sprayer application technology and Canada Sprayer Guide helps get that information to the people who need it. The Guide not only complements the technology development and research at the AgTech Centre, but it also complements, links to, and points a spotlight on the information developed through a wide range of other communications efforts at AAFRD." Since this has been a difficult past couple of years for many farmers, the information provided through Canada Sprayer Guide is available on the site at no charge, says Lee Hart. The Guide is part of a broader service on sustainability in agriculture, food and the environment. Meristem Land and Science anchored at www.meristem.com. Reprintable with permission.
